夏野去 小壮鹿之角乃 束間毛 妹之心乎 忘而念哉

夏野行く、牡鹿(おじか)の角の、束の間も、妹が心を忘れて思へや

意味

夏(なつ)の野を行く牡鹿(おじか)の角は短いけれど、そんな短い間も、私は妻の事を忘れたりしません。いつもいつも思っています。

- rough meaning: I never forget my wife even if the time is such a short like the antler of the buck in the summer field. I always think of her.
