吾屋前之 瞿麥乃花 盛有 手折而一目 令見兒毛我母

我が宿(やど)の なでしこの花 盛りなり 手折(たを)りて一目 見せむ子もがも

意味 Meaning

私の庭の撫子(なでしこ)の花が今を盛りと咲いています。手折って一目見せてあげられる娘がいたらいいのだけれど。

- rough meaning: The Nadeshiko flowers in my garden are in full bloom right now. I wish there is a girl whom I would fold the flower by my hand and show it even just a glance.

この歌の題詞には、「大伴家持(おおとものやかもち)の石竹(なでしこ)の花の歌一首」とあります。
