壱師(いちし) Ichishi(Cluster-amaryllis)
壱師(いちし)は具体的に何をさすのかは確定していません。ギシギシ、イタドリ、イチゴ、エゴノキなどの説がありますが、彼岸花(ひがんばな)が最有力候補といわれています。彼岸花(ひがんばな)は、ヒガンバナ科ヒガンバナ属の多年草です。曼珠沙華(まんじゅしゃげ)ともいいます。９月～１０月にかけて、特にお彼岸のころ、赤い花(白いのもあります)を咲かせます。田んぼの畦(あぜ)などで良く見かけますね。
- It is uncertain what "Ichishi" specifically refers to. There are theories but cluster-amaryllis(Higanbana in Japanese) is said to be the most promising candidate. Amaryllidaceae is a perennial plant belonging to the genus Lycoris in the family Amaryllidaceae. It is also called "Manjushage" in Japanese. From September to October, especially around the autumn equinoctial week(Higan in Japanese), red flowers (some are white) bloom. You can often see them in the ridges of rice fields.
