足代過而 絲鹿乃山之 櫻花 不散在南 還来万代

足代(あて)過ぎて 糸鹿(いとか)の山の 桜花(さくらばな) 散らずあらなむ 還(かへ)り来るまで

意味 Meaning

足代(あて)を過ぎて糸鹿(いとか)の山まで来てしまいました。私が戻ってくるまで桜(さくら)が散らないで欲しい。

・「足代(あて)」は、現在の和歌山県有田市(もしくは有田川町)あたりの地名と言われています。「糸鹿の山」は、有田市糸我町の糸我山(いとがやま)とされています。

- rough meaning: After passing Ate, I have come to the mountain of Itoka. I don't want the cherry blossoms to fall until I come back. (Both "Ate" and "Itoka" are thought to be place names around present-day Arita City, Wakayama Prefecture.)
