花咲而 實者不成登裳 長氣 所念鴨 山振之花

花咲きて 実はならねども 長き日(け)に 思ほゆるかも 山吹(やまぶき)の花

- Hana sakite Mi ha narane domo Nagaki ke ni Omohoyuru kamo Yamabuki no hana.

意味 Meaning

花が咲いても実はならないけれども、山吹(やまぶき)の花が咲くのを長く待ち望んでいることです。

・八重咲の山吹には実がならないそうです(雄しべが変化)。なお、一重咲きの山吹には実がなります。

- rough meaning: Yamabuki don't bear fruit even though the flowers bloom, but I'm looking forward to seeing the Yamabuki flowers bloom.(It is thought that this poem is written to convey the feeling of longing to be noticed by the person the author loves, entrusting it to Yamabuki.)
