大王之 遠乃朝庭跡 蟻通 嶋門乎見者 神代之所念

大君(おほきみ)の 遠(とほ)の朝廷(みかど)と あり通(がよ)ふ 島門(しまと)を見れば 神代(かむよ)し思ほゆ

意味 Meaning

大君の遠い朝廷(大宰府(だざいふ))として人々が行き来する海の島々を見ると神代(かみよ)の頃が偲(しの)ばれます。

・遠(とほ)の朝廷(みかど)は大宰府(だざいふ)のことです。

- rough meaning: Looking at the islands along the sea route by which people traveled to and from the Emperor's distant court(Dazaifu), I am reminded of the Age of the Gods.

- 「柿本朝臣人麻呂(かきのもとのあそんひとまろ)、筑紫國(つくしのくに)に下る時、海路(うみじ)にして作る歌二首」と題された歌のひとつです。
