蛍(ほたる) Hotaru(Firefly)
蛍(ほたる)はホタル科の昆虫です。ゲンジボタルやヘイケボタルがよく知られていますが、日本には蛍は５０種類ほどあるとされています。毎年５月下旬から６月に日本各地で蛍の光を楽しむことができますが、ホタルは希少な昆虫なのでいたずらに捕まえたりしないようにしましょう。
- Hotaru is an insect of the firefly family. Genji-Botaru(hotaru) and Heike-Botaru(hotaru) are well known, but it is said that there are about 50 types of fireflies in Japan. You can enjoy the faint light of fireflies all over Japan from late May to June every year. Fireflies are rare insects, so please be careful not to catch them unnecessarily.
