山鳥(やまどり) Yamadori(Copper pheasant)

山鳥(やまどり)はキジ科ヤマドリ属の鳥で、日本固有種です。その名の通り、山地に生息しています。メスの尾は短いのですが、オスの尾は長く、９０センチになるものもいるとのことです。繁殖期等には，オスが羽を打ちならして大きな音を立てるそうです。近年は個体数が大幅に減少していて、めったに見ることはできません。

- Yamadori is a copper pheasant of the Pheasidae family, a Japanese endemic species. As the name implies, it lives in the mountains. The female's tail is short, but the male's tail is long, and some are 90 cm long. During the breeding season, males flutter their wings and make loud noises. In recent years, the number of individuals has decreased significantly and are seen rarely.
