夏山之 木末乃繁尓 霍公鳥 鳴響奈流 聲之遥佐

なつやまの こぬれのしげに ほととぎす なきとよむなる こゑのはるけさ- Natsuyama no Konure no shige ni Hototogisu Naki toyomu naru Kowye no harukesa.
意味 Meaning
夏山の、梢(こずえ)の茂みで霍公鳥(ほととぎす)があたりに響くように鳴いています。その声がはるか遠くまで聞こえます。
- In the thick foliage of the treetops on the summer mountain, a Hototogisu is singing, its voice resounding through the air and carrying to a great distance.

・この歌の題詞に「大伴家持(おおとものやかもち)の霍公鳥(ほととぎす)の歌二首」とあります。
