無暇 不来之君尓 霍公鳥 吾如此戀常 徃而告社

暇(いとま)なみ 来まさぬ君に 霍公鳥(ほととぎす) 我れかく恋ふと 行きて告げこそ

- Itoma nami Kimasanu kimi ni Hototogisu Are kaku kofu to Yukite tsuge koso.

意味 Meaning

「暇がないから(忙しいから)」と、お出でにならない君に、霍公鳥(ほととぎす)よ、「私はこのように(激しく)恋しがっています」と行って知らせて伝えてください。

- To my beloved who makes the excuse that he is "busy" and does not come to see me, please go and tell him, Oh Hototogisu, that "I miss you so intensely."
