楓(かえで) Kaede(Japanese Maple)
カエデ科カエデ属の落葉高木の楓(かえで)は、万葉の頃には「かへるで」と呼ばれていました。「かへるで」は葉の形が「かへる(蛙)」に似ていたことからきていると考えられています。
- Kaede(Japanese maple) is a deciduous tree belonging to the maple family. Kaede was called "Kaherude" in the Manyo era. It is thought that the name "Kaherude" comes from the fact that the shape of the leaves resembles a "Kaheru"(a frog).
