百舌鳥(もず) Mozu(Shrike)
百舌鳥(もず)は、スズメ目モズ科の鳥で、全長２０センチ程度です。モズは、小型の哺乳類(ほにゅうるい)、昆虫、爬虫類(はちゅうるい)を捕まえ、木などにさす習性があります。秋～冬には平地に現われますが、春～夏には山で木の茂みに巣をつくります。
- Mozu(Shrike) is a bird of a family Laniidae, about 20 cm long. Mozu has the habit of catching small mammals, insects and reptiles, and pointing them to trees. It appears on flat ground from autumn to winter, but from spring to summer it builds nests in the bushes in the mountains.
