うはぎ Uhagi(Aster Yomena)
「うはぎ」はキク科シオン属の多年草の嫁菜(よめな)とされています。中部地方から西の地域で、田のあぜ道などで７月～１０月にかけて淡い紫色の花をつけます。「ヨメナ」よりひとまわり小さい白い花を咲かせるカントウヨメナは関東から東北にかけてみることができます。
- "Uhagi" is an Aster yomena which is a perennial herb that belongs to the family Asteraceae. It is found in the Chubu region to the west, and has pale purple flowers on footpaths between rice fields from July to October. Kanto Yomena, which blooms with white flowers that are slightly smaller than Yomena, can be seen from Kanto to Tohoku.
うはぎを詠んだ歌 Poems
万葉集には２首が載っています。万葉の時代には、春(はる)の若芽が食用とされたようです。
- Manyoshu contains two poems about "Uhagi". During the Manyo period, that young shoots of Uhagi in spring were considered edible.
